This flat circular route through the Rački ribniki – Požeg Landscape Park follows quiet paved roads and firm gravel tracks. The first part of the route passes through Rače and by its castle before continuing between ponds, through shaded woodland and across the open landscape at the foot of the Pohorje hills. With its easy and safe terrain, numerous shaded sections and several designated rest areas, the route is well suited to families and anyone looking for a short, relaxed cycling trip.

Rače Castle
The ride starts in Rače next to a Renaissance castle surrounded by a landscaped park. After a few minutes, we leave the town behind and turn towards the Rački ribniki ponds, where the traffic quickly gives way to peace and nature.

We enter the landscape park, where a paved road with very little traffic runs between the ponds. Water surrounds us on both sides, with ducks, herons, storks and dragonflies often visible along the way.
Forest
Between the ponds and Požeg Lake, the route follows a firm gravel track through shaded woodland. The section is easy and suitable for all types of bikes. Hunting blinds can also be spotted along the way.
Požeg Reservoir
Požeg is an artificial reservoir and the largest body of water on the route. A designated cycling rest area with tables and benches sits beside the lake, making it the ideal place for a break or a snack.

Fields Below Pohorje
The route passes through fields and meadows with wide-open views towards Pohorje. Traffic is light, and part of this section follows the EuroVelo 9 route.
The Rački ribniki route is a great choice for a relaxed cycling trip without significant climbs or busy roads. Back in Rače, you can take a short walk to the castle or treat yourself to an ice cream at Calimero
