A loop route that spends most of its time rolling across the hills of Slovenske gorice, with a few flat stretches in between. One of the highlights is crossing the Mura by ferry — a rare and memorable experience, made even better by the views over the river. The route then continues through the wine hills, where short climbs alternate with vineyard panoramas. Varied and lively, it works equally well as a relaxed day out or a proper road bike effort.

Šentilj
The ride starts at TIC Šentilj, right on the border with Austria. The road heads first toward Sladki Vrh. The climb is gentle, gradually opening up views of Pohorje.
Mura Ferry
At Sladki Vrh, one of the route's real highlights awaits: the Mura ferry (Murfähre). One of the last of its kind in the area, it runs on river current alone — no engine. Crossing the Mura is a small adventure that takes you across to the Austrian side in the most pleasant way possible.
Austrian side
Flat roads through fields and patches of woodland lead to the small town of Mureck, known to Slovenians as Cmurek.
Back to Slovenia
Crossing back over the border, the wine hills return. The landscape settles into gentle waves, and the road gets playful again — short, punchy climbs giving way to quick descents.
Sveta Ana

Sveta Ana viewpoint
Passing through villages including Lokavec, the route arrives at Sveta Ana, where views open out across the vineyards and surrounding hillsides. A good place to stop, breathe, and take in the panorama.
Second half of the route
The route then takes us through Spodnji Gasteraj to Jurovski Dol. This charming village lies just over halfway along the route, making it an ideal place for a short break.

The final stretch is more relaxed, following a cycling path through Jarenina and past the Alfi Nipič Museum. Easy and enjoyable — just right for winding down a loop that brings you back into Šentilj.
The route doesn't end here, though. Šentilj is an excellent base for further exploration of Slovenske gorice — new roads, climbs, and views spread out in every direction, all worth coming back for.

- Okrepčevalnica Brod (8 km from the start): Okrepčevalnica Brod is an eatery set right on the banks of the Mura River, by the ferry in Sladki Vrh. It specialises in grilled dishes, with trout and potato salad among the most popular.
- Posestvo Rožengrunt pri Miheliču (20 km from the start): The Rožengrunt Estate at Mihelič is a tourist farm in Sveta Ana with a 30-year tradition. It welcomes groups for various celebrations as well as individual guests, and its offerings include homemade cured meats, the farm's own wine and sparkling wine, juices and other home-made delicacies. Travellers can stay in rooms and apartments, and the hosts are happy to show them the work around the farm and the little church nearby.
- Gostilna Eder (24 km from the start): Gostilna Eder stands in the centre of Sveta Ana and has been serving guests since 1972. Run today by the third generation, this family inn blends warmth and tradition with modern cuisine.
- Gostilna Špindler (35 km from the start): Gostilna Špindler stands in the heart of Jurovski Dol, right beside the church on the tidy village square, and with a tradition going back to 1930 it keeps the flavours of home cooking alive. It is run by the fourth generation, who stay true to their grandmothers' recipes. Every day they prepare hot lunches and bake pizzas, and for celebrations they also welcome larger groups.
- Gostilna Pri cesarski lipi (48 km from the start): Gostilna pri Cesarski Lipi is located in Jareninski Dol and is renowned for its authentic home cooking and pleasant, homely atmosphere. The kitchen is built on tried-and-tested recipes and fresh local ingredients, with the homemade cold-cut platters especially popular – featuring local delicacies from homemade sausages to meat preserved in lard (tünka) and pork spread (zaseka), rounded off by a selection of Styrian wines.
- Dveri Pax (50 km from the start): Dveri-Pax is a wine cellar with a restaurant and wine shop in Polički Vrh near Jarenina, continuing the more than 800-year-old winemaking tradition of the Benedictine monks of Admont. The cellar produces a range of premium Slovenian wines, among them Welschriesling, Blaufränkisch and sparkling wines, while the restaurant, awarded three Gault&Millau toques, serves top-class cuisine.
- Izletniška kmetija Puša (53 km from the start): Puša Tourist Farm is a wine-growing tourist farm in a stunning natural setting in Polički Vrh near Jarenina. Guests are served excellent wines from the old cellar, and its speciality is that all the local delicacies are prepared in a wood-fired oven. For a longer stay there is a cottage with a view, and for tastings and gatherings the farm also welcomes groups by arrangement.

Sights
- Mura Ferry (8 km from the start): The Mura Ferry is a unique remnant of a former river crossing, still operating today without a motor and offering travellers a charming experience of crossing the river. It runs between 15 March and 15 November.
- Museum of Madness (14 km from the start): Cmurek Castle with its Museum of Madness is considered one of the most unusual museums in the region. It gathers the stories of people who once lived somewhat on the margins of society.
- Sveta Ana (23 km from the start): In Sveta Ana there is a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the hilly landscape of the Slovenske gorice, the vineyards, and neighbouring villages. In good weather, the view reaches all the way to Pohorje.
- Čajnica Kolarič (24 km from the start): Zelišča Kolarič is an organic herb farm run by the Kolarič family in Sveta Ana. The highlight of the herb garden is an earth lodge, also known as the tearoom, where they introduce you to the herbs they have gathered and serve freshly brewed tea. You can stroll among hundreds of medicinal plants, watch the bees in the apiary and take part in guided tours, apitherapy and workshops.
- Oljarna Kolarič (31 km from the start): Oljarna Kolarič is a family-run oil mill from Žice near Jurovski Dol, in operation since 1995. They started with pumpkin seed oil and later expanded their range to cold-pressed oils and many other products. Alongside pumpkin seed, hemp and flax oil, their range also includes flours, pumpkin seed spreads, seeds, cheeses, homemade cured meats and gift packages.
- Jurovski Dol (35 km from the start): Jurovski Dol is a picturesque settlement in the heart of the Slovenske gorice, where the Baroque Church of St. George rises among hilly vineyards and orchards; the place is known for its rich cultural heritage, genuine Štajerska hospitality, and tranquillity, complemented by local events and a wine-growing tradition.
- Alfi Nipič Museum (48 km from the start): The Alfi Nipič Museum in Jurovski Dol is dedicated to the life and musical career of the beloved Štajerska musician; visitors can view a rich collection of memorabilia, photographs, and personal belongings.
- Posestvo Valdek (49 km from the start): Posestvo Valdek is a family hobby farm in Jarenina, where the animals are not livestock but family members, each with a name. The extended family numbers almost 50, from Icelandic horses, llamas, donkeys and alpacas to sheep, goats, a pig, dogs and hens. The estate is open to small groups looking for genuine contact with the animals. Its offerings include guided tours, birthday parties in the company of the animals, farm games and various workshops.
